Well, some time ago, I bought a beautiful desk off Craigslist thinking it would make the perfect vanity for my bedroom. However, I got it home only to realize it was way too wide from front to back. I would never be able to fit it in between it and the bed.
Please don't pay attention to my living room. Bringing this into the house caused many a thing to be strewn about.
How many of you watch those DIY shows where they just decide to cut furniture in half and make something out of it? Well, I do and I did! I cut this thing right down the middle and am going to mount to my wall in my bedroom with a french cleat.
I then painted it (definitely not a pro with that yet) and mounted the top of my cleat. Went to find out how high I need to put the bottom cleat only to find out it was too long too! Well, that is a project for another day. Here is my (temporarily) finished vanity. Yes, you see another project underneath it. I hate the color of that stool, but love the lines. So, that will be changed too!
Thank you for visiting!

That's so awesome! I don't know if I'd have the courage to cut something in half like that!
Well done!! It looks fantastic now! I really like your re-do! I'm just gearing myself up for something similar - I seem to spend more thime fretting about it than I would actually doing it!!

Yes, yes, nice, uh huh. But...in that background of the first pic...is that a double wedding ring quilt I spy? And if I'm not mistaken, it looks to be in a good old fashioned frame for quilting?? Am I crazy??
That quilt was a wedding gift from my mother. She bought it in Lancaster, PA from the Amish. I have it hung on a quilt display bar in my living room.
